Frequently Asked Questions

DavinLabs provides comprehensive software development services including custom software development, web and mobile app development, cloud solutions and DevOps, AI and machine learning, UI/UX design, data analytics, IoT solutions, and IT consulting. We serve businesses of all sizes across multiple industries.

DavinLabs is based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and builds for clients locally and for companies in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and the UK. Colombo's time zone gives genuine daily overlap with both regions — roughly four hours of live overlap with Australian business hours, and a full shared working morning with Central European time — so you get standups and answers in real time, not a 24-hour email round trip.

We serve a wide range of industries including healthcare, retail and e-commerce, logistics and transportation, financial services, education, manufacturing, hospitality and tourism, and more. Our diverse experience allows us to bring cross-industry insights to every project.

Our journey began in 2019, and we've since delivered 10+ successful projects for clients across Sri Lanka and international markets, alongside 3+ products we've built and run ourselves. Our team brings years of combined experience in software development and digital transformation.

We follow an Agile development methodology with 2-week sprints. Our process includes: 1) Discovery and requirements gathering, 2) UI/UX design and prototyping, 3) Iterative development with bi-weekly demos, 4) Comprehensive testing (unit, integration, E2E), 5) Deployment and launch support, 6) Ongoing maintenance and optimization. You'll have full visibility into progress through regular updates and a project dashboard.

Project timelines vary based on complexity: Simple websites or landing pages take 2-4 weeks. Standard web applications typically take 8-16 weeks. Mobile apps (cross-platform) take 10-20 weeks. Complex enterprise applications may take 4-12 months. We always provide a detailed timeline during the estimation phase, broken down by milestones.

We believe transparent communication is key to project success. We use Slack or Microsoft Teams for daily communication, conduct bi-weekly sprint demos, provide weekly written progress reports, use project management tools (Jira/Linear) for task tracking, and schedule regular check-in calls with your dedicated project manager.

Absolutely. We offer comprehensive post-launch support including bug fixes and issue resolution, performance monitoring and optimization, security updates and patches, feature enhancements and iterations, and dedicated SLA agreements for business-critical applications. Our support plans are flexible and can be tailored to your needs.

Our team is proficient in a wide range of modern technologies. Frontend: React, Next.js, Angular, Vue.js. Backend: Node.js, NestJS, Python, Django, Laravel. Mobile: Flutter, React Native, Swift, Kotlin. Cloud: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud. Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, MySQL. DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines. AI/ML: TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenAI. We choose the best technology for each project based on your specific requirements.

Quality is built into every step of our process. We practice code reviews on every pull request, implement automated testing (unit, integration, E2E), use static analysis tools like SonarQube and ESLint, follow industry best practices and design patterns, conduct security scanning and vulnerability testing, and perform load and performance testing before launches. We also provide comprehensive documentation for all deliverables.

Yes. We regularly integrate with existing systems, APIs, and legacy applications. Whether you need to extend your current platform, build new features on top of existing architecture, or create integrations between different systems, our team has the experience to work with virtually any technology stack.

Security is a core part of our development process. We implement encryption at rest and in transit, follow OWASP security best practices, conduct regular security audits and penetration testing, implement role-based access control, provide NDA and data protection agreements for all projects, and can comply with specific standards like HIPAA, GDPR, or PCI-DSS as required.

Project costs depend on several factors including scope, complexity, technology stack, and timeline. As a general guide: Simple websites: $3K-$10K. Web applications: $15K-$60K. Mobile apps: $25K-$80K. Enterprise applications: $80K-$300K+. We provide detailed, transparent estimates during our free consultation, broken down by feature and milestone so there are no surprises.

We offer flexible engagement models to suit your needs: 1) Fixed Price: for projects with clearly defined requirements and scope. 2) Time & Materials: for projects with evolving requirements, billed based on actual hours worked. 3) Dedicated Team: for long-term projects where you need a full team working exclusively on your product. 4) Retainer: for ongoing maintenance and support with a set monthly budget.

Our typical payment structure is milestone-based: 20-30% upfront to begin the project, followed by payments tied to agreed-upon milestones (usually 2-4 milestones depending on project size), with the final payment upon project delivery and acceptance. For retainer and dedicated team engagements, we bill monthly. We accept bank transfers, credit cards, and other payment methods.
